India Clean Water Initiatives
December 17, 2022The Importance of Sustainable Infrastructure
January 12, 2023In Kenya, 65% of young women and school-going girls lack access to safe and affordable menstrual hygiene materials, sanitation and hygiene facilities. Not only does this increase girls risk of infection, but it also leads to mental health issues like depression, low self-esteem, and anxiety furthermore making it difficult for them to go to school or work. Aqwalife Foundation is honored to partner with Unlimited Sis in 2023 to support educational health initiatives throughout Kenya.

Unlimited Sis is a Kenya-based nonprofit with a strong passion for sexual and reproductive health education, as well as mental health advocacy. Unlimited Sis makes appropriate menstrual hygiene products accessible and ensures that young women have an environment that allows them to manage their period without stigma. The foundation distributes free sanitary pads to schools and foster homes in underserved communities in Kenya and has been empowering girls one sanitary pad at a time since 2018.
Ultimately, Unlimited Sis hopes to provide more solutions through education, facilitating uncomfortable conversations to normalize periods, and to ensure sanitation and hygiene facilities are accessible to all. Through this, they also hope to combat the stigma surrounding mental health.
